As we head into October, there are many things that come with this new month and unfortunately the mark of cold and flu season is one of them.  We all know that it’s important to frequently wash our hands and cover our mouths when we sneeze or cough, but here are some other ways you can protect yourself against the cold and flu:

  • Regularly wipe down any hard surfaces you or others may touch frequently.
    • Home: door and faucet handles, phones and kitchen countertops are commonly used and therefore need to be cleaned often.
    • Work: take some time out of your day to sanitize your desk, phones, etc.
    • Other: utilize the disinfecting wipes at the grocery store to clean your grocery cart before shopping
  • Keep a travel size hand sanitizer in your bag in your car so you can use it on the go.
  • And as always, make sure you’re getting enough sleep, exercising and eating right to ensure that your immune system is healthy.
