One important aspect of handling hazardous material is security. - Route-controlled radioactive materials
- More than 55 pounds of an explosive
- More than 1.06 quarts of extremely toxic by inhalation
- HazMat in bulk package >3,550 gallons
- HazMat in non-bulk package >5,000 pounds
- CDC controlled agent or toxin
- Required if you transport or offer for transport:
- A quantity of hazardous materials that requires placarding
- 40 CFR 172.500(a) – Each person who offers for transportation or transport any hazardous material shall comply with the applicable placarding requirement
- A quantity of hazardous materials that requires placarding
- If you shop hazardous materials, you must have a security plan!
