As a building owner or manager, it is important to make yourself aware of your environmental obligations. Your tenants and/or employees could potentially be exposed to asbestos, lead in paint or water or mold. Recent developing exposures include Chinese dry wall, vapor intrusion and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in caulk.
Buildings exist to protect people from the elements and support human activity. They should not make people sick, cause them discomfort or otherwise inhibit their ability to perform.
If environmental exposures are not well managed, costly remediation of ensuing problems and/or resolution of liability claims can be experienced.
