I had mentioned in an earlier post that I'd be going to our Ohio office to help cook breakfast for our fantastic staff. It is a way that the senior management team says "thanks" for all the terrific work they do. Not as many showed up as originally planned because they were already out on job sites and meeting with clients. Join myself and Nicole Collett on Monday, September 30th at the 2013 National Safety Council Congress & Expo. We will be presenting "The Great Chicago Fire and Fire Prevention Plans". Our session #42 is 4:00-5:30pm. The breadth of important content of our presentation is OSHA's requirements related to Fire Prevention Plans but to make it interesting, and given the conference is in Chicago, we thought we'd give a little history lesson on the Great Chicago Fire.

If a regulatory inspector shows up at your facility and does an inspection, he may (or may not) inspect the practices (or lack thereof) of the facility. Are hazardous waste drums properly labeled? Are drum lids in place in the satellite accumulation areas when waste is not being added to the drums? On the morning of May 8th, a number of managers will be cooking up a great breakfast for the hard-working employees in the Ohio office. It's starting out to be a very busy year at August Mack Environmental thanks to the many clients who've entrusted us with their business. Reflecting back on the first quarter of 2013, we've been awarded over 500 projects. Due to the diverse EH&S expertise of our staff, we have been given a wide variety of projects. I was recently asked to participate in the "Environment and Sustainability Networking Night" at Indiana University. It was a very enjoyable evening which started with being part of a five person panel explaining our careers and providing students with hopefully insightful advice. After the panel discussion and questions from the students, we adjourned to allow the students to interact and network with us in an informal setting. It was a very fun evening for me!

Thanks to the several hundred clients who attended our recent basketball viewing event and helped us celebrate our milestone achievement of our 25th anniversary! It's always great re-connecting with many clients that we don't get to see face-to-face as much as we would like.
