August Mack Environmental is having a great year as we celebrate our 25th anniversary! Earlier in the year we had a festive gathering with many of our clients. And probably later this month we will be awarded our 1,000th project of the year. The loyalty of our clients and the trust they put into our commitment towards them has allowed us to achieve this milestone! And in just over two months we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary with our employees as we gather for some zip lining, camping,...Read More »
August Mack Environmental works with hundreds of clients on many different types of projects. One of the more common projects is helping with stormwater permitting and compliance. If you have an expiring stormwater permit, do you seek outside assistance in renewing your permit? I would say that most people would say no. But some facilities are just too busy to handle on their own thus we can help out. Or a more likely scenario is the facility personnel are so busy, they didn't even realize their...Read More »
I had mentioned in an earlier post that I'd be going to our Ohio office to help cook breakfast for our fantastic staff. It is a way that the senior management team says "thanks" for all the terrific work they do. Not as many showed up as originally planned because they were already out on job sites and meeting with clients. But for those that were able to make it, we had pancakes, eggs, fruit, breads, and sausage. You can see (photo to left) Senior Manager, Bill Glaze, busy at the grill cooking...Read More »

Join myself and Nicole Collett on Monday, September 30th at the 2013 National Safety Council Congress & Expo. We will be presenting "The Great Chicago Fire and Fire Prevention Plans". Our session #42 is 4:00-5:30pm. The breadth of important content of our presentation is OSHA's requirements related to Fire Prevention Plans but to make it interesting, and given the conference is in Chicago, we thought we'd give a little history lesson on the Great Chicago Fire.
Over the years, the August Mack Pennsylvania office has expanded services to include compliance, environmental due diligence, site investigation, and remediation services. Similar to the expansion of services, the client base has expanded and includes a wide variety of industrial and service industries. Numerous clients were served by the Pennsylvania office in 2012 and projects included compliance audits, MSDS database development and maintenance, litigation support, air permits, MACT...Read More »

If a regulatory inspector shows up at your facility and does an inspection, he may (or may not) inspect the practices (or lack thereof) of the facility. Are hazardous waste drums properly labeled? Are drum lids in place in the satellite accumulation areas when waste is not being added to the drums? Is equipment associated with the air permit operating properly (e.g. pressure gauge on a baghouse). But they also may inquire about paperwork documentation. Both of these items are important. Don't...Read More »
I am looking forward to joining Ben and Bill (pictured left) in helping again with the annual employee breakfast in the Ohio office. On the morning of May 8th, a number of managers will be cooking up a great breakfast for the hard-working employees in the Ohio office. This is in appreciation for the expertise, innovation, and commitment they have in the work they perform. We know our clients appreciate their efforts and we want to let them know our company appreciates it!
If you are attending the 28th Annual Ohio Environment, Energy & Resources Law Seminar, visit August Mack's tabletop display at the conference. We are excited to be part of this program in 2013 by participating in the exhibition area. So when you come up to our table, say hi to Bill, Ben, Ashley, and myself (Tom).
I am honored and excited that Nicole Collett and I have been selected again to present at the 2013 National Safety Council Congress taking place in Chicago, Illinois. We have not yet been given the date of our presentation but it will be on either September 30, October 1, or October 2. Once we receive an exact date, I will announce it via my blog. This year's topic focuses on Fire Prevention Plans for industry but will have an entertaining introduction giving an overview of the Great...Read More »

I was recently asked to participate in the "Environment and Sustainability Networking Night" at Indiana University. It was a very enjoyable evening which started with being part of a five person panel explaining our careers and providing students with hopefully insightful advice. After the panel discussion and questions from the students, we adjourned to allow the students to interact and network with us in an informal setting. It was a very fun evening for me!
Thanks to the several hundred clients who attended our recent basketball viewing event and helped us celebrate our milestone achievement of our 25th anniversary! It's always great re-connecting with many clients that we don't get to see face-to-face as much as we would like. A number of the attendees have been working with August Mack during the whole 25 years of our exisitence. Thank you so much and looking forward to many more years. I will post a few more photos from the event over the next...Read More »
August Mack Environmental is celebrating 25 years of business! I am happy to have been working for such a great company for the last 16+ years. We live our Mission Statement of commitment to both our clients and our employees. I would also like to extend our thanks to all of the clients we have worked for over the years. Without their support and trust in our work, we would not be successful. I was amazed when I looked at the number of clients (725) we have worked for in just the past two years!...Read More »
