Back when I began this blog with a glossary of terms commonly used in Phase 1 Site Assessments, I failed to include the definition of an Environmental Professional (or EP (as defined by ASTM 1527-05).
A person meeting the education, training, and experience requirements as set forth…
Professional/Educational Qualifications | Relevant Experience |
PE or PG license/registration | 3 years |
Federal or state license/certification to perform environmental inquiries | 3 years |
B.A./B.S. degree or higher in relevant discipline (engineering, environmental science or earth science) | 5 years |
B.A./B.S. degree or higher (grandfather clause) | 10 years |
Currently a Task Group is concluding proposed revisions to ASTM Standard E1527-05 and much debate has ensued over the inconsistent work on the part of those claiming the title “Environmental Professional” (EP). Some are not adequately trained or do not have the experience to use and apply ASTM E1527-05 to meet All Appropriate Inquiry standards.
While some EPs might cut corners when preparing Environmental Assessments in order to reduce costs, August Mack employs expertise and commitment to our clients to provide up-to or better than [ASTM] standard work for our clients. Thorough and competent EPs oversee all of the Phase I Environmental Site Assessments that are completed at August Mack.
