Hearing Conservation

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 by August Mack Environmental, Inc.
August Mack has a recorded webinar available on hearing conservation. Did you know that 22 million Americans, approximately 8 percent of the population, have impaired hearing? These hearing losses range from mild loss of sensitivity to total loss of hearing. While each of us loses some of our hearing as we age, a surprising number of hearing losses and impairments come from exposure to occupational noise. The consequences of work-related hearing loss go well beyond an annoying bi-product of employment. Associated problems include compromised quality of life, loss of productivity and an increase in work-related accidents. In addition, the World Health Organization states that noise is the biggest compensable occupational hazard.

During the webinar, we discuss the requirements of a Hearing Conservation Program, selection of proper hearing protection, testing techniques to determine attenuation rating for hearing protection, new technology in noise dosimetry and ways to improve your current hearing conservation program.
