Exit Routes

Think about if a emergency or fire happened at your facility, can the employees safely exit the facility? It is a requirement of the regulatory standards to provide safe exits. General Industry standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3) states: "Exit routes must be free and unobstructed. No materials or equipment may be placed, either permanently or temporarily, within the exit route. The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead to a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp must be provided where the exit route is not substantially level."  Take a look at your facility to ensure compliance with this requirement. This is just one of the thousands of requirements for facilities to provide a healthful and safe working environment.
