Asbestos in Your Building or Facility

For any demolition/renovation project in any building, you should retain a licensed asbestos inspector to perform a pre-demolition/renovation inspection. In buildings constructed earlier than 1980, a licensed asbestos inspector should be retained to identify (via sampling or assumption) asbestos-containing materials and convey this information to the proper occupants and visitors.

Chinese Drywall - What Should You Be Concerned About?

The Chinese drywall discussion refers to drywall imported from China between 2001 to 2007. This drywall contains contaminants that are emitting gases which can create a noxious odor and corrode copper and other metal surfaces.

The importation of drywall from China was during an upswing in home construction to replenish the shortage in the U.S. after hurricanes destroyed many sections of the Gulf Coast. Chinese drywall has been found in 36 states and is problematic in regions with high humidity.
