Wednesday, October 19, 2011 by Marketing Department

If you suspect a violation may be present or you become aware that a facility should have been complying with a law but has not, a consultant can come in and offer environmental compliance solutions.

Ohio’s Cessation of Regulated Operations Program

Wednesday, October 12, 2011 by Marketing Department

Abandoned sites can be damaging to the environment and can lead to expensive cleanups. Take for example the former Dayton Tire and Rubber Facility. In 1987, vandals entered the closed tire and rubber plant to recover salvageable materials. While removing cooper cores from electric transformers remaining at the facility, the vandals drained the Askerol (PCB containing) transformer oil onto the ground. The oil ended up making its way into a nearby creek costing more than $8 million in cleanup...

Asbestos: Let the Experts Handle It!

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 by Tom Anderson

A man in Auburn, Washington disregarded Clean Air Act regulations by knowingly letting untrained workers remove asbestos from a building.  He ended up with a 30-day prison sentence and a $100,000 fine. Don’t let this happen to you! If you have asbestos that needs to be removed let the experts handle it. It is not only illegal but also hazardous to human health if someone other than a certified professional removes asbestos. This is because once asbestos fibers get into the air they can be...

We get asked a lot..... "what all does your company do?".  It is not a simple answer because we do LOTS of stuff. So here is a typical day of projects that were awarded to August Mack Environmental on one specific day in late February:
  • Management and oversight of an asbestos abatement project
  • Site visit for compliance review
  • Phase I update

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 by Tom Anderson
If your facility is performing maintenance on machines, you should have a lockout / tagout (LO/TO) program in place. Part of the requirement of having a properly developed program is to do an annual review of the program. Since many injuries are a result of not having an effective LO/TO program, take a hard look to ensure that you have an effective program that protects your employees.
